The Performance Lab

Assume It Threads Co. uses exclusively natural fabrics chosen for their sustainability, quality, and most importantly how they feel. High performers focused on achievement get more done when they are supported, not distracted. What touches the skin matters.

Our fabrics are cotton, linen, wool, and cashmere.
Not synthetic. Not blended.

Our standards integrate OEKO-TEX into our decision to use a particular fabric and we often use GOTS certified fabrics .  We integrate 100 percent natural fibers into every garment for one reason. They work with the body, not against it.

Why Natural Fabrics Matter

  • Breathability and Regulation
Cotton and linen allow air to circulate freely, preventing heat and moisture from being trapped against the skin. Wool and cashmere act as natural temperature regulators, retaining warmth when needed while remaining breathable in warmer conditions.
  • Moisture Management
Natural fibers absorb significant amounts of moisture, up to 30 percent of their weight, without feeling damp. This supports the body’s natural cooling process and helps maintain comfort throughout the day.
  • Skin and Sensory Comfort
These fibers are naturally hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and static free, reducing irritation, odor, and sensory friction. When the skin is calm, the nervous system follows.
  • Durability and Longevity
Natural fibers are resilient and age with quality. Linen and cotton soften over time, and wool fibers can bend thousands of times without breaking. With proper care, these garments last.
  • Environmental Integrity
At the end of their lifecycle, natural fabrics biodegrade in months rather than centuries, returning safely to the earth.

Why We Don't Use Synthetic Fabrics

Synthetic textiles such as polyester, nylon, and acrylic are petroleum based plastics. While often marketed as high performance, they come with hidden costs to both the body and the environment.

They trap heat and bacteria against the skin, disrupt the body’s natural cooling process, and are frequently treated with harsh chemicals used for wrinkle resistance, waterproofing, or durability. Over time, these substances can leach into the skin.

Each wash releases microscopic plastic fibers into water systems, contributing to long term environmental and biological contamination. In landfills, synthetic garments can persist for hundreds of years without fully breaking down.

For us, this is not a compromise we are willing to make.

The Overlooked Performance Factor: Kinesthetics

Most high performers invest heavily in mindset, strategy, and productivity systems. What is often overlooked is kinesthetics, the continuous sensory feedback between the body and how it feels.

Clothing is in constant contact with the skin, the body’s largest sensory organ. The materials you wear influence comfort, regulation, and focus throughout the day. When fabrics soothe rather than irritate and support rather than restrict, the body expends less energy compensating for discomfort.

Natural fibers support sustained focus and concentration by reducing sensory noise. The result is a calmer baseline, steadier energy, and greater capacity to perform over time.

Energetic Alignment and Natural Materials

Across cultures and centuries, natural textiles were not chosen solely for durability or comfort. Linen, wool, and other plant and animal fibers were widely used in medical and healing contexts to reduce infection, support recovery, and regulate the body.

Modern interpretations of this historical knowledge suggest that natural materials may complement the body’s own energetic and sensory systems. While research in this area continues to evolve, natural fibers are often associated with a sense of grounding, balance, and vitality that synthetic materials fail to replicate.

Rather than forcing the body to adapt to artificial inputs, natural fabrics appear to support the body’s inherent rhythms. For many wearers, this translates into greater ease, steadier energy, and an overall higher quality of daily experience.

Supporting Balance and Focus

Sustained focus, cognitive resilience, and emotional balance are essential for long term achievement. Integrating practices and materials that support these systems creates a more stable foundation for peak performance.

What you wear plays a role in how consistently you can show up with clarity, composure, and energy.
